JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE: Warehouse Personnel

 

JOB PURPOSE:  To maintain a clean and orderly warehouse while assisting production in staging/destaging of raw materials; load and unload trucks.

DIRECT REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Report to Warehouse Supervisor

PHYSICAL AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:  The entire plant.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  Staging raw materials; destaging raw materials and finished goods; loading and unloading trucks; housekeeping; ensure accurate job packet information; ensure accurate receipt of materials/purchases received.

LIST OF ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED:  Review of bill of lading; operate forklift in a safe manner; load and unload trucks; staging and destaging materials; housekeeping.

KNOWLEDGE NEEDED FOR THE JOB:   Proficient in the safe operation of a forklift; good math skills; proficient in reading and understanding bill of ladings; good communication skills.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Within one year in position based on attached skill requirements.

TYPES OF DECISIONS TO BE MADE:  Only routine clerical level decision making.  Must be able to determine when to enlist others in problem solving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to lift 55 pounds.  Must have good hand/eye coordination in the process of the operation of a forklift.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:   Forklifts, pallet jacks, packaging equipment, dock plates, trash compactor and track mobile.  Office equipment including copy machines, fax machines, calculators and 2 Way Radios.

OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT:   Must be proficient in the above noted equipment.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE TASKS:  Forklift inspection check list.

TROUBLESHOOTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Must coordinate with the production department during the staging and destaging process.  Must be able to detect potential problems with regard to inventory.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:  Safe operation of forklift.  Must be trained with all OSHA required safety training including proper lifting techniques; Right-to-Know; Lock-out/Tag-out; Blood borne Pathogens and First Air; PPE requirements.

QUALITY ASSURANCE COMPLIANCE STANDARDS:  Must comply with internal QA standards and procedures and all applicable QS 9000 requirements.

HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:   Raw Materials and Finished Goods warehouse with assistance in production.

TERMINOLOGY:  Terms related to inventory, raw materials and plastic processing.  Any internal terminology relating to forms and procedures.
