JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:  Production Assistant

 

JOB PURPOSE:  To assist Production Operator.  Keep line stocked with materials. 

DIRECT REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Reports to the Team Leader, but also receives work direction from the Production Operator.   

PHYSICAL AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:   Production area.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for keeping the production line stocked with raw materials; packaging finished goods; and housekeeping in the production area.  Must keep accurate records of materials used.

LIST OF ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED:  Maintain feeder logs.  Complete finished goods packout by and accurately weighing and recording unused raw materials, scrap and finished product.

KNOWLEDGE NEEDED FOR THE JOB:  Working knowledge of staging, destaging and PMD procedures.  Forklift experience helpful however, certified training will be conducted after hire.   

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Within one year in position based on attached skill requirements.

TYPES OF DECISIONS TO BE MADE:  Must be able to compare PIP with materials used.  Must monitor final production pellet quality and determine “fit for use”. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to perform lifting necessary to keep up with production line.  Must be able to climb heights exceeding 6 feet. 

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:  Hand pallet jack, stencil machine, grinder and forklift.

OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT:  Must be trained in the safe operation of all equipment especially forklifts.  Will be trained in the operation of the trash compactor and the grinder.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE TASKS:  Forklift inspection checklist.

TROUBLESHOOTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  N/A

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:  Must be trained with all OSHA required safety training including proper lifting techniques; Right-to-Know; Lock-out/Tag-out; Blood borne Pathogens and First-Aid and PPE requirements.

QUALITY ASSURANCE COMPLIANCE STANDARDS:  Must comply with internal QA standards and procedures and all applicable QS 9000 requirements.

HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for maintaining housekeeping in the workplace.

TERMINOLOGY:  Terms related to plastic processing and raw materials.  Also, internal terminology related to forms and procedures.
