JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:   Production Operator

 

JOB PURPOSE:  Ensures production line is performing as expected to produce quality product.

DIRECT REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Team Leader

PHYSICAL AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:  Production area

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  Product quality; accuracy of paperwork; equipment operation; effective verbal and written communication.

LIST OF ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED:  Set-up and operate production lines.  Monitor on line product quality and track Quality Lab results.  Ensure all paperwork performed is accurate and concise.

KNOWLEDGE NEEDED FOR THE JOB:  Specific equipment knowledge including the following:  K-Tron, WP and Conair Systems.  Knowledge of staging and destaging, LQH and PMD procedures.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Within one year in position based on attached skill requirements.

TYPES OF DECISIONS TO BE MADE:  Determine whether or not all equipment is functioning properly.  Need to be able to respond quickly to out of control conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to perform lifting necessary to keep up with production line.  Must be able to climb heights exceeding 6 feet.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:  Hand pallet jack, stencil machine, grinder and forklift.

OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT:  Receives job specific training on the operation of production related equipment (K-Tron, WP, Conair).  Must be trained in the safe operation of all equipment especially forklifts.  Will be trained in the operation of the trash compactor and grinder.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE TASKS:  Forklift inspection checklist.  Monitor oil levels in equipment; monitor temperatures of equipment; monitor trends in the operation of all equipment. 

TROUBLESHOOTING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Able to identify and report equipment malfunction.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:  Must be trained in all OSHA required safety procedures including proper lifting techniques; Right-to-Know; Lock-out/Tag-out; Blood Borne Pathogens and First Aid; and PPE requirements.

QUALITY ASSURANCE COMPLIANCE STANDARDS:  Must comply with internal QA standards and procedures and all applicable QS 9000 requirements.

HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and production area.

TERMINOLOGY:  Terms related to plastic processing and raw materials.  Also, internal terminology related to forms and procedures.
